Digital Garden - Climate
As I continue to gather my seeds (notes), I realized a recurring theme was the climate. I don't think I am an activist - yet. But I suppose I am a concerned denizen.
[Rocket] "Why do you care so much?"
[Starlord] "Because I am one of the dumb bastards who live here."
"Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money."

Building
I don't think we can sustain everyone living in big houses with yards or have giant shopping malls everywhere. I believe we need to rethink the current buildings and the future of buildings and housing. We need to figure out how to love having less and doing more. We need to measure success by being more not making more.
What if we reclaimed everything? What if we made dwellings just big enough and focused on larger community areas? What if we built everything with sustainability in mind and considered a natural lifecycle of buildings? How?

Transport
I always have had a car. I don't have one anymore. Leaving the USA and moving to Scotland gave me the ability to choose. And I choose to use public transport, walking and cycling. Its changed me. I feel a part of the place I live in. I am not a tourist just driving through it. I know it. I love it.
Getting around. It is almost the definition of "freedom". It is important. But the way we do it now is terrible for the climate. How can we do better?

Energy
Being able to produce energy without the labor of animal or man has changed our entire world. For the good and the bad. It is certain that as we move forward, we want - maybe even need? - energy. However the price of that energy to the environment must change. What if we could produce clean energy? What if we didn't need so much?
Technology has saved lives beyond counting. It has brought back endangered species. It has taken us to other planets. But its dark side is destroying us. How can we move forward with all the benefits and nullify the drawbacks?

Clothing
An odd thing to consider, but I started thinking about how COVID made masks part of our clothing. I still wear a mask in crowded places. I started to consider what the future of clothing would be like in a climate changed world.
Clothing. It seems such a simple part of our identity. What if in the future, due to a changed climate and unbreathable air, its much more than style?
